My Advice

What kind of bride are you? It's a great question for every bride to ask herself because it helps them to reflect on their individuality and personal style.

For brides who revel in being the center of attention and enjoy pushing the limits, we recommend sultry beaded gowns, a statement piece of jewelry, or a luxurious cover-up. We refer to these brides as exhibitionists, and we find their directness and honesty very refreshing. If you thrive on attention, then don’t shy away from it. On the contrary, follow your instincts and celebrate yourself as the centerpiece of the wedding!— XO, Vera
Glossary: Bouquet Styles

[ Nosegay ]  A hand-tied, round bouquet -- six to 16 inches in diameter.

[ Cascade ]  Free-form shape that falls downward.

[ Pageant ]  Long-stemmed flowers cradled in bride’s arm.

[ Hand-Tied ]  Flowers are loosely tied together.

[ Wrist Corsage ]  Used as either an accessory or an alternative to a bouquet, a corsage should always be small and graceful.

Create your own Red Carpet moment for your wedding. Take a cue from actress Mila Kunis (now starring in the ballet thriller Black Swan) who wore this frothy, beaded Vera Wang ball gown silhouette to the Costume Institute Gala Benefit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in May.

Dress Diary

Making an unforgettable entrance is a hallmark of cinema’s heroines. For a bride, the walk down the aisle is perhaps the grandest entrance (and exit) you will ever make. Every detail should be considered, most of all the back of your wedding dress.

The visual importance of the back is a crucial perspective I incorporate into the conception and design of all of my wedding dresses. With Eleanor, I created an artistic back sweep with the tulle-flower embroidered skirt, re-embroidered the buttons down the back of the wedding dress and tied the bow in front as well as the back such that the sashes trail romantically behind the bride.

Eleanor is a beautiful picture from all angles. The bow for Eleanor is made of horsehair, which adds texture with its transparency and structure in that the fabric is stiff enough to hold a form or shape. Horsehair is an important addition to my design palette.
